Kaiapoi HS got up for a 63-60 win over rivals Rangiora HS in round three of the girls’ Whelan Trophy Canterbury Secondary Schools’ basketball league on Tuesday. Tied at 30-all at halftime, RHS got their nose in front 50-46 by threequarter time only for a big finish from KHS to snatch the threepoint win. In the boys’ Thompson Trophy, RHS were outclassed by Ashburton College 63-95 and in division 2, KHS were well beaten by St Thomas 62-117.
