Spring into Cheviot

-

Celebrate the beginning of spring by visiting Cheviot next weekend.

Expect food, flowers, market stalls and fun with lots of children friendly activities, all based at the Cheviot Area School. Then explore the village. The museum will be open or take a walk around the beautiful Cheviot Hills reserve - information tours at 11 am and 2 pm (masses of spring bulbs amongst the historic oak trees). The Cheviot cafes will also be open to refresh you before you head home.

There will also be a floral display in Knox Church at the south end of town.

The Lions Club are holding their annual sports quiz on Friday night at the Cheviot Trust Hotel and Mike King is the guest speaker on Saturday night. The festival is free and you can buy tickets to the function on Saturday night.

Mike King has for years been known as the iconic Kiwi entertainer but that role has changed dramatically since the conception of his hugely popular radio show ‘The Nutters Club’.

The show evolved from Mike’s own experience of mental illness and addiction and has become a huge success. The aim of the show is to ‘forever change the way people feel, think, talk and behave in relation to mental health’.

Prior to Mike speaking there will be a complimentary drink and nibbles provided at Mt. Beautiful wine tasting room from 6:30 pm - please bring your ticket.

A special combined churches service at Knox Church at 10am on Sunday morning rounds out the festivities.
