ZONTA AWARDS

Kaiapoi’s Amelia Garvey won the major individual prize at the Zonta Secondary Schools Sports Awards. Garvey (Burnside High School) was the New Zealand amateur strokeplay champion in 2017 and the 17-year-old made the cut in a LPGA Tour event in October. She has also secured a scholarship to the University of Southern California where she will join the golf programme next July. Rangiora’s Ice Trampoline Club member, Brittany Wang (Rangi Ruru), won the category for best achieving sportswoman in more than one code for her feats in trampolining, hockey and athletics.
