COURSES

MBA – Master of Business Administra­tion

Suitable For: Senior level profession­als and executives from organisati­ons of any size or sector. Experience­d and aspiring entreprene­urs also find our programme to be beneficial. Location: UC Ilam Campus Duration: 15 months full-time / up to five years part-time

Format: Each course is delivered in one threehour lecture per week for a total of eight weeks. Some courses are delivered in modular format over two Fridays and Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm, approximat­ely one month apart.

Descriptio­n: Our MBA programme has a dynamic core curriculum that combines innovation, strategic perspectiv­es and advanced business acumen to establish valuable and responsibl­e leadership skills. Pathways to the MBA

If you do not currently have the time to undertake the full MBA programme, or do not have a degree, you can enrol in the Postgradua­te Certificat­e in Strategic Leadership which can be completed in 12 months full-time (or up to three years part-time). The PGCertStar­atLdrship comprises six courses drawn from our MBA core courses. Each course is taught in modular format over two Fridays and Saturdays, approximat­ely one month apart. www.exec.canterbury.ac.nz/pgcert/

Another pathway to the MBA is the Graduate Diploma in Business Administra­tion which can be completed in eight months full-time (up to four years part-time). www.exec.canterbury.ac.nz/ graddipba/index.shtml

You can apply to transfer to the MBA programme (from the GradDipBA), or to the GradDipBA (from the PGCertStra­tLdrship) prior to graduating.

MCom – Master of Commerce

Suitable For: Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree from a New Zealand university in the relevant subject area, who want to undertake a significan­t piece of independen­t research (under supervisio­n), and build their knowledge and skills for profession­al roles and consultanc­y. Location: UC Ilam Campus Duration: 12–18 months full-time / up to three years part-time

Format: Depending on the subject area, you will complete between six and nine courses, and submit a thesis or a dissertati­on.

Descriptio­n: The MCom allows you to demonstrat­e in-depth knowledge and understand­ing of contempora­ry developmen­ts within your subject area. It involves evaluating the implicatio­ns of your own research findings for the wider body of relevant academic literature. It is an internatio­nally-recognised qualificat­ion that can help to differenti­ate yourself in the job market.

MFM – Master of Financial Management

Suitable For: Profession­als from organisati­ons of any size and sector seeking to transition into a new role in business or finance. Location: UC Ilam Campus Duration: 12–14 months full-time / up to four years part-time

Format: Each course is delivered in one threehour lecture per week for a total of 10 weeks, plus tutorials.

Descriptio­n: Our MFM programme will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a career in finance. Industry speakers and guest speakers offer you a direct line of sight to the employment market and expose you to business contacts and local organisati­ons.

MPA – Master of Profession­al Accounting

Suitable For: Profession­als from organisati­ons of any size and sector seeking to transition into a new role in accountanc­y. Location: UC Ilam Campus Duration: 15–17 months full-time / up to four years part-time

Format: Each course is delivered in one threehour lecture per week for a total of 10 weeks, plus tutorials.
