COUR­SES

MBA – Mas­ter of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion

Suit­able For: Se­nior level pro­fes­sion­als and ex­ec­u­tives from or­gan­i­sa­tions of any size or sec­tor. Ex­pe­ri­enced and as­pir­ing en­trepreneurs also find our pro­gramme to be ben­e­fi­cial. Lo­ca­tion: UC Ilam Cam­pus Du­ra­tion: 15 months full-time / up to five years part-time

For­mat: Each course is de­liv­ered in one three­hour lec­ture per week for a to­tal of eight weeks. Some cour­ses are de­liv­ered in mo­du­lar for­mat over two Fri­days and Sat­ur­days, from 9am to 5pm, ap­prox­i­mately one month apart.

De­scrip­tion: Our MBA pro­gramme has a dy­namic core cur­ricu­lum that com­bines in­no­va­tion, strate­gic per­spec­tives and ad­vanced busi­ness acu­men to es­tab­lish valu­able and re­spon­si­ble lead­er­ship skills. Path­ways to the MBA

If you do not cur­rently have the time to un­der­take the full MBA pro­gramme, or do not have a de­gree, you can en­rol in the Post­grad­u­ate Cer­tifi­cate in Strate­gic Lead­er­ship which can be com­pleted in 12 months full-time (or up to three years part-time). The PGCertS­taratL­dr­ship com­prises six cour­ses drawn from our MBA core cour­ses. Each course is taught in mo­du­lar for­mat over two Fri­days and Sat­ur­days, ap­prox­i­mately one month apart. www.exec.canterbury.ac.nz/pgcert/

An­other path­way to the MBA is the Grad­u­ate Diploma in Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion which can be com­pleted in eight months full-time (up to four years part-time). www.exec.canterbury.ac.nz/ grad­dipba/in­dex.shtml

You can ap­ply to trans­fer to the MBA pro­gramme (from the Grad­DipBA), or to the Grad­DipBA (from the PGCertS­tratL­dr­ship) prior to grad­u­at­ing.

MCom – Mas­ter of Com­merce

Suit­able For: Grad­u­ates with a Bach­e­lor’s de­gree from a New Zealand univer­sity in the rel­e­vant sub­ject area, who want to un­der­take a sig­nif­i­cant piece of in­de­pen­dent re­search (un­der su­per­vi­sion), and build their knowl­edge and skills for pro­fes­sional roles and con­sul­tancy. Lo­ca­tion: UC Ilam Cam­pus Du­ra­tion: 12–18 months full-time / up to three years part-time

For­mat: De­pend­ing on the sub­ject area, you will com­plete be­tween six and nine cour­ses, and sub­mit a the­sis or a dis­ser­ta­tion.

De­scrip­tion: The MCom al­lows you to demon­strate in-depth knowl­edge and un­der­stand­ing of con­tem­po­rary de­vel­op­ments within your sub­ject area. It in­volves eval­u­at­ing the im­pli­ca­tions of your own re­search find­ings for the wider body of rel­e­vant aca­demic lit­er­a­ture. It is an in­ter­na­tion­ally-recog­nised qual­i­fi­ca­tion that can help to dif­fer­en­ti­ate your­self in the job mar­ket.

MFM – Mas­ter of Fi­nan­cial Man­age­ment

Suit­able For: Pro­fes­sion­als from or­gan­i­sa­tions of any size and sec­tor seek­ing to tran­si­tion into a new role in busi­ness or fi­nance. Lo­ca­tion: UC Ilam Cam­pus Du­ra­tion: 12–14 months full-time / up to four years part-time

For­mat: Each course is de­liv­ered in one three­hour lec­ture per week for a to­tal of 10 weeks, plus tu­to­ri­als.

De­scrip­tion: Our MFM pro­gramme will equip you with the skills and knowl­edge needed to suc­ceed in a ca­reer in fi­nance. In­dus­try speak­ers and guest speak­ers of­fer you a di­rect line of sight to the em­ploy­ment mar­ket and ex­pose you to busi­ness con­tacts and lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions.

MPA – Mas­ter of Pro­fes­sional Ac­count­ing

Suit­able For: Pro­fes­sion­als from or­gan­i­sa­tions of any size and sec­tor seek­ing to tran­si­tion into a new role in ac­coun­tancy. Lo­ca­tion: UC Ilam Cam­pus Du­ra­tion: 15–17 months full-time / up to four years part-time
