In the December issue, you ask if anyone knows of any significant trees. I’m writing to let you know that I have a 1000-yearold totara in my garden, which is protected. It was in a paddock being grazed by sheep, but some years ago I extended my garden to include the totara and a matai that’s estimated to be 800 years old.
