FINISHING TOUCHES

Create an underwater garden at home

- STYLING KENDYL MIDDELBEEK PHOTOGR APH BELINDA MERRIE

WE CREATED: An indoor water garden.

WE USED: Aquatic potting mix and pebbles from Bunnings, bunnings.co.nz, and aquatic plants and fertiliser from Aquatic Plants, aquaticplants.co.nz.

HOW WE MADE IT: Rinse aquarium pebbles thoroughly in water using a sieve until the water runs clear. Rinse aquatic plants in water. Carefully plant seedlings in aquatic potting mix and layer with pebbles to secure. (You can also plant in small pots filled with potting mix and disguise pots with stones.) Fill the vessel with water to cover plants. Most plants will require indirect sunlight, regular water changes and aquatic fertiliser.

THE DETAILS: House Doctor glass vases large $35 and small $20, both from Tea Pea Home, teapea.co.nz; terrazzo stoneware bowl $65 from Tessuti, tessuti.co.nz; framed Yoga Croquis art print by George Sand Studio $280 from Endemic World, endemicworld.com; Ercol Romana sideboard $4795 from Good Form, goodform.co.nz; all other items stylist’s own.
