QT QUEENSTOWN

-

Australian interior designer Nic Graham’s first impressions of Queenstown were of snowy mountains and a crystal clear blue lake, which inspired his design for the new QT Queenstown. Almost every element of the decor harks back to the alpine town’s natural environment – even the custom-designed carpet takes inspiration from its surroundings, with a combination of digitised snowflakes, leaves, flowers and mountain shapes.

THE SPACE: Lobbies aren’t usually places for snuggling down in, but who wouldn’t enjoy a glass of red in front of the hotel’s suspended fireplace, relaxing on a comfortable mix of contemporary and vintage furnishings. Guests might also notice a touch of Kiwi in their rooms with each featuring a handmade pink porcelain tui and New Zealand treescape screenprinted pillows.

DINING: The herringbone-patterned restaurant floor is eye-catching, but can’t compete with the views of Lake Wakatipu in Bazaar restaurant, where you can watch chefs at work. Produce for the restaurant is grown in QT’s rooftop garden. 30 Brunswick St, (03) 450 3450 qthotelsandresorts.com/queenstown
