To 30 July, City Gallery Welling­ton A ma­jor survey of works by Colin McCa­hon from the 1960s and 1970s ex­plores Maori mo­tifs, lan­guage, his­to­ries and sites, ac­knowl­edg­ing Maori as tan­gata whenua and demon­strat­ing emerg­ing bi­cul­tur­al­ism in New Zealand art. Span­ning the City Gallery’s en­tire first floor, On Go­ing Out with the Tide in­cludes The Ca­noe Tainui which re­cently sold for $1.35 mil­lion – the high­est price paid for a paint­ing at auc­tion in Aotearoa.
