PIGS, LIKE most other stock, benefit from having shelter, a place to have an afternoon snooze out of the hot summer sun or escape from cold rain and wind when the weather turns nasty... or just somewhere to be a pig!

Appletons now builds a range of quality pig housing, from shelters through to farrowing pens. Its stand-alone shelter offers excellent housing at 1.2m x 2.4m.

All their shelters are of timber construction with corrugated iron roofing and trim and built-on skids for easy moving around the paddock.

If you are looking to keep your pigs contained and off your paddocks then the Appletons pigsty (2.4m x 3.6m) is a good choice. For expecting sows there is the farrowing pigsty (4.8m x 2.4m), the most spacious sty with added height in the shelter, making it a lovely space that will keep your sow and her piglets warm and dry in all weather.
