use it to make a bug spray. The oils in sweet basil have been shown to in­ter­fere with the life­cy­cle of many pests, stop­ping them from re­pro­duc­ing. Steep two cups of tightly packed basil leaves in 1 litre of freshly boiled wa­ter. Leave to cool, strain and add 2 tsp of soap flakes (you can make your own by grat­ing soap) or liq­uid soap, then mix. Spray this onto the leaves of your plants, mak­ing sure you spray the un­der­sides too.
