If you have an abundance of basil,
use it to make a bug spray. The oils in sweet basil have been shown to interfere with the lifecycle of many pests, stopping them from reproducing. Steep two cups of tightly packed basil leaves in 1 litre of freshly boiled water. Leave to cool, strain and add 2 tsp of soap flakes (you can make your own by grating soap) or liquid soap, then mix. Spray this onto the leaves of your plants, making sure you spray the undersides too.
