5 tips for dealing with rats

-

DON'T add meat, dairy or food scraps to your compost. A better idea is to add this to a worm farm that is secure so rats can't access it.

KEEP compost bins in open areas, not up against a fence, hedge or near an area of long grass. Rats use these as cover to move around undetected. If you have areas of long grass, cutting it down will remove a key habitat for a rat population.

IF possible, fence around your food gardens using a strong steel mesh.

USE something similar to secure your compost bin but it will need mesh on the bottom and lining the top too.

CREATE a cold compost pile which is not as attractive to a rat.
