In an emergency, if you get chicks unexpectedly and can’t get starter feed, you can use mashed-up, hard-boiled egg as a one-day-only substitute. Do not feed things like Weetbix, biscuits, rice, spaghetti etc. These foods are deficient in the nutrients chicks need. It is very important to quickly source a starter feed. Do not use layer feed.
