Not the tulip you want
1. Cape tulip is highly poisonous to people (human deaths have been recorded in NZ) and livestock. 2. Plants form dense infestations that are very hard to control.
3. They also produce a large amount of seed which is spread by animals, and corms, spread by water runoff, machinery, and when gardeners dump plants. 4. Corms can be dormant for up to eight years, so there’s a high risk of reinfestation.
