S14 REVIVAL

-

An incident at the track busted Chris Sahota’s Nissan Silvia S14, and since then a complete restoration has got underway, with no nut being left unturned. He set to ordering every Parts Shop Max suspension component available for the commonly modified S-chassis, as these suspension upgrades — combined with the half cage which is soon to be fabricated — should aid in the hunt for rigidity and agility. Parts Shop Max coilovers are known to go extremely low, so Chris took advantage of this and installed a set of Work Meister S1R wheels, which should tuck in nicely once the guards find themselves much lower to the ground. To add a bit of flair to the build, he decided to coat the engine bay and roll cage in a bright metallic-red paint, as you may have seen at the V 4&Rotary Nationals last month.

Retaining the factory SR engine was a give-in with this build, and once Chris decided upon a power goal, he made the necessary purchases to get there. The factory turbo was pulled off and replaced with a Garrett GT2871R, which sits on top of a custom Sinco manifold. Tomei 550cc injectors were installed to help the SR flow enough fuel to keep up with the 21psi of boost and the aggressive Kelford cams. An A’PEXi Power FC ECU was chosen as a reliable, trustworthy engine management system, and once tuned by ST Hi-tec, the car made a respectable 287kW at the wheels. Silvia gearboxes are known to be rather fragile when the power starts knocking on 300kW, so as a precaution Chris installed a RB25DET gearbox backed by a GT-R diff.

Expect to see his S14 rocking a full Origin Labo bodykit and a carbon fibre D-MAX bonnet when it’s completed.
