2003 Mitsubishi Lancer
have you broken much while drag racing?
Breaking things comes with the package when drag racing. The first thing to go was the factory six-speed gearbox, which was ripped out and replaced with the stronger Evo VII five-speed. Thankfully, other than that, it’s just been the typical minor gremlins and a bit of maintenance after each session.
We have to ask — how did the Minion theme come about?
The Minion theme wasn’t planned by any means; it was a spur-of-the-moment thing that seemed to stick. I grabbed a Minion plush toy out of a mate’s Subaru and cable-tied it to my grille, and then it just grew on the car from there. The plate popped up for sale, so I knew that I needed to grab that, too. It’s a bit of a laugh really — a bright yellow 460kW Evo, themed like a Minion that can do 10.8s.
Any future plans for the car?
I want to improve my personal best at Meremere [Dragway], so there will be more upgrades, although I’m unsure of what that might bring at this stage, and then back to the drags.
Cheers for the yarn, Rizwan.
