OLDIES ARE GOLDIES
Eric Budd’s Toyota Levin — a former feature car in NZ Performance Car magazine — is once again proving to be the machine to beat in the Tradezone GTRNZ GT3 category, arguably the most competitive of the series’ four classes.
Former champion Budd, who was dethroned last season by Bernard Verryt’s Mustang, is back in the driving seat in the class this season, and with three rounds done he held a 50-point advantage over Maurice Shapley, with Shane Whitely in hot pursuit in third place.
The GTRNZ field started the season with back-to-back rounds at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo, before heading to the NZ Motor Cup meeting at the Speedworks Premier Motorsport Championship meeting at Hampton Downs. The popular series will also feature at the New Zealand Grand Prix at Manfeild, on 11 - 12 February.
