NEXEN TYRE ANNOUNCED AS PRO7 NAMING RIGHTS

-

October 21 will mark the beginning of the 26th consecutive summer season for the North Island Pro 7 championship, with Nexen Tyre announced as the new naming right for the North Island Pro7 Racing following extensive tyre tests. As New Zealand’s longest running control class in NZ circuit racing, the six round summer series will see the North Island based Pro7 Plus FD RX-7s and RX-8 class running on the Nexen NFera SUR4g semi slick as their control tyre, 225/50R16 for the RX8s and 235/45R17s for the RX-7s. A new tyre for a new season will add an element of challenge as teams adapt to the new rubber. “We are looking forward to seeing this new tyre in action and what this series will bring,” DTM General Manager Craig Wylde says. “We are excited about the opportunity to engage with the motorsport industry and to raise the profile of Nexen Tyre in New Zealand.” Up to 48 cars are expected on the grid for the rounds combined with the South Island based cars, and selected rounds will be televised. This is some of the closest racing on NZ soil, and well worth getting out to check out.

Round 1: October 21–22, Manfeild Round 2: December 1–3, Taupo Round 3: January 26–28, Hampton Downs Round 4: February 9–11, Manfeild Round 5: March 9–11, Hampton Downs Round 6: March 30–April 1, Pukekohe
