‘ST1FFE’ AND ‘CARHOE’
Few motors hold the the admiration of enthusiasts quite like the Mazda 20B, so having a pair of 20B-packing streeters on the cover of the 2009 yearbook was very fitting. Regan Derrick’s RX-3 coupe was a real street weapon, with a Curran Brothers Racing (CBR)–built 20B turbo combo punching out just over 370kW at the time. The car is still around today (under new ownership) and has just had a complete rebuild at CBR, with a wild twin-turbo configuration that has seen it make just shy of 600kW. Joining the RX-3 on the cover was Oscar’s 20B naturally aspirated (NA) FC RX7. The engine was actually the motor that was built for the DIY-RE 13B videos that many of you will remember. We hear that this car is gathering dust in Oscar’s shed.
