HONDA K20A
Arguably the best small-displacement NA engine to ever hit the market, the K20A will pretty much decimate anything in the 2000cc category, even after that competitor has been modified. With huge aftermarket support once you do decide to modify the K20, there is no shortage of bolt-on kits for superchargers and turbos. Keep it NA, treat it to cams, ITBs, headers, and a touch of increased compression for something truly special. A little more torque can be had by simply going straight to a K24, which is the 2400cc variant, thanks to an 87mm bore and a 99mm stroke. The block is taller, however, the compression ratio is lower. A complete engine will see you out laying around $3500
