BUILDING YOUR HUB PLATES

-

These are the plates that you’ll attach to your hubs and display your ride height measurements, while also giving something for your dial gauge to measure off. Cut a plate, 350x200x3mm, and then bend a 15mm lip. This will also give the plate some strength and a place for your level to sit. Next, you’ll need to find the centre of the plate and mark out the PCD. An easy way to do this is to use the brake rotor as the template. Drill out the PCD. If you have M12 studs, use a 13mm drill bit, or, for M14 studs, use a 15mm bit. Always be kind to your drill bits and use lube — lots of lube. The final hole needed is a larger centre hole to clear the wheel-bearing dust cover. The plate must be able to sit flat on the hub or brake rotor. Spacers might be needed if your brake calipers sit in the way.
