These are the criteria on which we are judging the great sides. Each teams receives a mark out of 10 in five areas for a total score out of 50.

INTENSITY OF COMPETITION

How widely played is the sport and how fierce is the competition within it?

Did the team in question win major events such as world championships?

How good were they in terms of results?

SPORTING FOOTPRINT

Were they a team that changed the sport? Were they considered revolutionary in the way they played? Did they have players whose individual legacies would endure?
