BEST BUY: MIKE DELANY
The 35-year-old first-five has played for the Chiefs and the Highlanders. He has played one match for the All Blacks. He has also played in Japan, France and England, so he’s experienced to say the least and will provide good back-up to Mo’unga and Hunt.
The Crusaders have a tradition of turning good players into very good ones – and that goes for No 10s too so Delany could benefit accordingly. An example is Dan Bowden, who played some of his best rugby at the Crusaders in 2011 and was very close to making the All Blacks squad that year but instead decided to move overseas. Delany is likely to play an important coaching role during the week alongside new backs coach Ronan O’Gara.
