RISING STAR: JOSH IOANE

On the Super Rugby fringes in 2017, Josh Ioane gets the full call up off the back of a fruitful Mitre 10 Cup with Otago.

After incumbent Hayden Parker’s ACL injury in January, Ioane was next cab for Otago and he kept his rank throughout, showing a natural composure and a broad range of the necessary skills.

The 22 year-old was second in the competition amongst No 10’s for try assists and his all-round game will flourish further under Lima Sopoaga and Mauger; both privy to test rugby in the position.

While chances in 2018 may not be thick and fast, Ioane will get the chance to show what he’s about with plenty of star power close by in the backline.
