The Crusaders became the side with the largest gap between titles when they won last year. That distinction, if it could be called that, was previously held by the Blues who won in 2003, six years after they had claimed the championship in 1997. The Crusaders had last won the title in 2008, so they broke their nine-year drought when they won in Johannesburg.
