Record first quarter for Polaris

-

The momentum of the Polaris brand in New Zealand continues to grow with the US UTV specialist posting a record performance in March to drive home an impressive Q1 result. Polaris grabbed 23.3 percent of New Zealand’s off-road vehicle market in March to finish the first quarter of 2015 with 19.8 percent national market share, 5.5 market share points ahead of the same period in 2014. This result has also seen Polaris grab number two place in the New Zealand off-road vehicle market for the year to date, the first time it has maintained this position over the course of an entire quarter. Impressively, Polaris’ sales of ATVs and UTVs (side x sides) in the first quarter grew by 47 percent over Q1 2014, including 48 percent growth with its ATV range and 46 percent growth with its Ranger and RZR range of UTVs. On the strength of its 15 models will Roll Over Protection Structures, Polaris further reinforced its status as a clear industry leader in the UTV market by capturing 52 percent share of the national side x side market in March and 43 percent for the first quarter. Its 52 per cent market share result in March was 27 market share points ahead of its nearest rival. Much of the growth and dominance of its side x side product can be attributed to the launch of the 2015 Ranger 570 HD and Ranger 1000 Diesel HD during Q1, with both models boasting heavy duty upgrades to suit the local market, along with the inclusion of features such as Engine Braking System with 4-Wheel Descent Control (4WDC) and electronic power steering.
