The first member of the new Discovery vehicle family, Land Rover’s all-new Discovery Sport, is finally available for sale here, in two trim levels ( SE and HSE) and with the choice (at launch) of a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and two turbo diesel engines. All feature stop-start technology, high-pressure direct injection, low-friction internal components and smart regenerative charging for outstanding performance and economy.
Starting price is $ 78,500 for the 110kW TD4 SE (diesel) with the range topping HSE, with either 140kW SD4 (diesel) or 177kW Si4 (petrol) powertrains, priced from $ 89,500. Key features of the chic and capable new model include:
Four-wheel-drive and a new nine-speed transmission. New multi- link rear suspension for superior on- road agility and offroad ability. Nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are standard. Exceptional all-terrain performance plus pushbutton selectable Terrain Response. Electric power-assisted steering. New eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with intuitive controls and an expansive connectivity package Petrol derivatives use an all-alloy Si4 2.0-litre engine with 177kW and direct fuel injection. This offers sixcylinder levels of performance in a compact package that reduces weight and cuts CO2 emissions by up to 20 percent, compared to conventional larger capacity engines with a similar power output. Meanwhile, 2.2-litre turbodiesel derivatives are available in either 110kW TD4 or 140kW SD4 specification. These engines produce 400Nm and 420Nm respectively. All engine derivatives are specified with ZF’s state-ofthe-art 9HP48 nine-speed automatic transmission. Designed and engineered at the Land Rover Development Centre in the UK, the Discovery Sport will be produced at the company’s award-winning manufacturing facility in Halewood, Liverpool, in the United Kingdom. It's available for sale in New Zealand now alongside the existing sevenseat Land Rover Discovery.
