The story behind the shot

- Pics 1 thru 7: On balance: Photographer Laurice Sciarone was in the right place at the right time to capture Wayne Hutchison and Kent McKeith bicycling round a corner at the Woodhill 100

Six weeks on and we’re still getting feedback about the fantastic t wowheeling Opening Shot of Wayne Hutchison and Kent McKeith taken by Laurice Sciarone which ran in the August mag. So much so that we thought we’d give it another run, this time using all seven shots. It ’s an impressive sequence, made all the more notewothy by the fact that the photographer, Laurice is just 15 years of age and still at school. “I have been interested in taking photos for a few years,” Laurice told us, “and I brought my first digital camera at the age of eleven. Six months ago I got my Canon EOS 700D and I am totally hooked. I’m looking forward to a future in action photography.” Her interest in the offroad/ 4WD scene is long- standing; Laurice’s father Rick a well- known competitor who finished ninth overall at Woodhill this year. “I have been around off- road racing as long as I can remember,” says Laurice. “I have attended all of Dad’s races and his passion for racing has got me involved. I really enjoy watching and learning more every race. “I have recently developed my passion for photography and decided to bring my t wo passions together, so I started to take photos of off- road racing. I really enjoy this and can’t wait to see what the future holds for my photography and racing dream.” Of the t wo- well drama she captured so well Laurice had this to say: “At the start of the race I placed myself at the first corner. I could see some of the cars losing contact with the ground, one or t wo wheels were lif ting. This is when I repositioned myself to the other side of the corner. I just had my camera out and ready when this vehicle started to lose control and I managed to capture this photo.”
