Urus to pack a punch
Trust Lamborghini. As one of the world’s preeminent sports car builders its soonto-be- officially unveiled Urus SUV was going to have to be different from the cookiecutter norm.
How different is currently the subject of heated speculation after word leaked out last month that its twin-turbo 4.0 litre petrol V8 engine was going to produce close to 450kWs ( or just on 600hp in the old money!)
Lamborghini is not exactly new to the high-performance SUV game, of course having built and sold the LM002 ( as featured recently in these pages) back in the early 1990s. And the first Urus concept car was shown at a motor show back in 2012.
The LM002 was more Hummer than Huracan though. The Urus is closer to a sports car, albeit one which sits and rides high, is equipped as standard with four- wheel- drive and – eventually – will be available in plug- in hybrid form.
