Established in Auckland back in 1974 Acker Bilt has built a well- deserved reputation for building some of the bets towbars in the business. They get a price over the phone and if accepted, fitting will generally take a day for custom towbars and half a day for towbars we have on the shelf “Custom jobs are any towbars on vehicles that require anything different from the standard design or towbars for vehicles that we have not seen enough of to warrant making a jig for. Different designs include removable towbars, extended tongues, different height tongues etc. Acker Bilt towbars are etch primed and overcoated with black paint, and will likely outlast the vehicle they are fitted to. The company can also provide a full range of towing accessories including duoball switching caps to cater for both 50mm ( Euro standard) and the old NZ one 1 7/ 8” which is still sold here. As well as making its own tow bars, bull bars ( for pre 2013 models) and side and rear protection bars Acker Bilt supplies and fits Whispbar, Prorack and Yakima roof racks and accessories.
