While manufacturers try to make SUVS suitable for every buyer, there is still a vast market out there for customisation and personalisation, even when you think you’ve found the perfect SUV. We take a look at some of the suppliers of SUV accessories and who you can source them from.

Bullbars

Every bar is designed by 3D scanning the vehicle to ensure correct fit. Bars are made from the highest quality SPHC oil and pickled steel to give maximum strength and rust resistance (not mild steel). The range is extensive and all bars are designed to be air bag compatible where required as well having a unique winch mounting cradle, which removes excess weight from the bar and puts winching load back to the vehicle chassis. All bars are powder coated using the AKZO NOBEL powder coating system which allows for a thicker, smoother and more durable coating.

Winches

Ironman Monster winches have been continuously improved and are unlike any other winch on the market. The gearbox on the winch has an upgraded design with hardened gears to eliminate float for precision operation along with an improved sliding clutch with straightcut gears to eliminate any gearbox slip. The rotatable gearbox allows positioning of the clutch handle to allow fitment to most bars easy hand access. Winches come complete with a wireless remote with a 40m range as well as a 3m lead remote. The 12000lb Monster winch has a 6hp (4.5kw) motor which is fully sealed and is supplied with a breather tube for mounting high on the firewall away from water. Winches have 28m of steel cable or have the option of 28m of synthetic rope.

Lighting

To help you enhance your current vehicle lights, Ironman 4X4 produce a range of lights including the Gamma 175 H3 halogen with a pencil and spread beam, the Vega 220 H1 halogen and the Supernova HID 35W with internal ballast, a glass lens, polycarbonate lens cover and a range of up to one km! A recent addition is a range of LED lights from small modular types through to a 1016mm long LED bar producing a huge 120W of power at 10800 Lumens.

Recovery equipment

Ironman 4X4 has an extensive range of recovery equipment including snatch straps, recovery kits, jacks, tow hooks, recovery treds and compressors. All come in sturdy carry bags and you can feel confident of having the right equipment should you get stuck.

Suspension

Suspension kits and components with raised height, long travel and improved performance are available for most makes and models. Ironman 4x4 shock absorbers are available in 35mm Nitro gas or 41mm Foam cell and now the largest, strongest 4x4 shock absorber ever made – the Foam Cell Pro with a 20mm rod and 45mm piston. These have longer travel and are built stronger to deliver performance in all conditions. Leaf and coil springs are made from high quality SUP9 steel and are available in different load ratings from ‘comfort’ to ‘extra constant load’. Suspension components come with a three year, 60,000km warranty.

Diff locks

Ironman4x4 distribute the state of the art diff lock “The Harrop/eaton E-locker.”

It is a new age electro magnetic design which is maintenance free. They have been engineered to capture 100 per cent of the available torque sending it equally to both ends of the axle. There is no need for an air compressor and these diff locks are seriously tough, having been tested in off road racing and competition trucks.

Vehicle protection/seat covers

Ironman 4x4 has developed a range of underbody protection kits which give enhanced protection from rocks, mud and debris. These kits are made from 4mm pressed steel, have easy bolt installation with no drilling or welding required, allow oil changes without removal and are powder coated for long life. Kits are available for most late model 4WD vehicles including Nissan, Toyota, Ford, Mazda, Isuzu and Mitsubishi.

Also available now is the range of canvas seat covers. These are a heavy duty 14.9oz or 12oz lined canvas made for the Australian mining industry and are suitable for vehicles fitted with side airbags.

Camping accessories

The range of camping accessories from Ironman 4x4 is always expanding with a range of proven rooftop tents and awnings available and a new range of fridges from 30-74 litres, camping chairs, solar panels, tables, swags and fishing gear, there is something for everyone who enjoys the outdoors.
