RACE TWO

-

With some early morning rain on Sunday, water was once again flowing across the track, bringing more debris with it. Amazingly, after a quick clean-up job and some sunshine, the track was dry enough for the cars to drive out on slicks. With it being a reverse-grid race, Sean Fowler got a great start and led the race from the beginning, dicing with Paul Boden, of Group2, all the way to the finish line, but ultimately taking the win. Steve Noyer, also Group2, was third across the line, with Anderson, Perkins, and Lance Midgley in the next group. Not so lucky was Andrew Sinclair, who had a coming together with Andrew Turner after hitting some standing water, which spun him around and ultimately led to his coming to grief when he backed his car into the side of Turner’s as he tried to get it back onto the racing line. As soon as the cars pulled into the pits, the heavens opened up again and it poured down; talk about good timing! The rain continued, and the club decided to call off the last race of the day, due to the conditions that were forecast. The points are close in both Group1 and Group2, which will make for a very interesting finale at the last meeting of the season, in Taupo over Easter weekend.
