AND THE REST

Tough Street

Quick street cars are always cool, especially when they’re actual, usable street cars — the kind of thing with an angry, over-cammed engine that you wouldn’t hesitate to drive to work or take down to the shops if you felt the fancy. Matt Kriletich’s XA Falcon coupe is one such car — a common sight at drag events and the annual Father’s Day Drags — and has been since before we featured it in Issue No. 26. When we featured Matt’s XA, it had run an 11.2-second quarter-mile, with a cage-free interior allowing fun for the whole family. These days, it’s a tad tougher, with Matt having dropped his PB way down to a blistering 9.95 seconds at 135.56mph.

Water Blasters

Jetsprints are great value from a spectator perspective — mega-power engines screaming at the limit, incredible driver ability, and enormous crashes when they happen. The 2007 Enzed V8 Jetsprint Series was covered in this issue, and, man… that was action. The basic principles of the sport haven’t changed too much in the past decade, either, so, if you’re wanting to broaden your V8 palate, make sure you check out the next season of what is now known as the Altherm NZ Jetsprint Championship.
