TORQUEBACK

Hello Todd, I always enjoy reading the magazine. Concept Corner is great. I was looking on Trade Me and came across the listing for the Ferrari 400 Superamerica, less the engine. I googled the model and an engine from the US is [US]$12K approx. The car on Trade Me is an auto, and, looking online, this model uses a TH400. I did think it would be awesome with an LS2 in it. I looked on YouTube and someone there put a 350 in one after the engine failed. An LS with a cam and tune would easily make 400hp to match the badge on the back! I’m not in a position to buy it myself, but I thought you might know of someone who would be keen. A couple of years ago, I came across … ‘Race Taxi’ [on YouTube], where someone had put a Kombi body onto a Porsche V8 turbo chassis. [It was interesting] to see the work involved and there are some clips on YouTube of it passing different European cars at track days. I like Chev Blazers. I came across a mid ’80s Blazer on a mid ’90s Corvette frame. The HDT site is also cool, with the retro kits they’re producing for the VE to VF Commodores. I wondered if you had considered having a small section in the magazine with websites where readers could send in sites with cars, products, and cool stuff? I always look at different cars for sale on carsales.com.au and gumtree.com.au. On another note, I always buy my oil and filters from TransDiesel. They are always very helpful and well priced. If people want keep their branded tyres for cruising and want cheap tyres for punishing, try SSA Wheels and Tyres in East Tamaki. To you and your team, keep up the awesome work. Take care. Cheers, Craig Robinson Thanks for the email and support, Craig. Strangely enough, you’re not the only person to have talked to us about that Ferrari and an LS conversion! It’d certainly make for a cool project and no doubt upset a few people, too! We’re all for things that are a bit different, so love seeing what people come up with for our Concept Corner section. While we know some are way too extreme to ever get built, we know that some, on the other hand, are already under way. Your thought on sharing links isn’t a bad one, and our old internet forum used to be a great place for that type of stuff. Sadly, Facebook seems to have killed many forums, our own included (it’s not solely to blame), and, unfortunately, it’s probably a bit hard to include in the magazine without advertising support. We do have an idea, though, that may work to showcase a few more things going on around the globe, for which we would be accepting submissions along the lines of what you’re saying, so watch this space. Cheers, Todd
