Israel hits arms hub

-

Amman/Beirut: Syrian rebel and intelligence sources said Israel struck an arms supply hub yesterday operated by the Lebanese Hizbollah group near Damascus airport, where weapons from Iran are regularly sent by commercial and military cargo planes.

Syrian President Bashar alAssad is backed in the country’s sixyear civil war by Russia, Iran and regional Shi’ite militias, including Hizbollah, a close ally of Teheran and sworn enemy of Israel.

Two senior rebel sources in the Damascus area reported five strikes had hit an ammunition depot used by Iranbacked militias. — Reuters
