Hong Kong: Authorities in Hong Kong are expanding their crackdown on the Chinesecontrolled territory’s opposition by arresting several activists.
Police detained up to nine activists yesterday for their apparent involvement in an antiChina protest last year, social media said. Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to visit Hong Kong on July 1 for the 20th year anniversary of the city’s handover from Britain to China.
On Wednesday, police arrested two proindependence lawmakers who were disqualified in a dispute over their oaths. — AP
