£20m for UK village

-

London: An English village with a 21bedroom mansion, 43 houses and a pub has been sold for £20 million ($NZ37.2 million).

West Heslerton in North Yorkshire was owned by the same family for 150 years but was put on the market this year after its final owner died.

Eve Dawnay, who had no single heir, inherited the estate in 1964 and died five years ago aged 84.

The village of a few hundred people, which includes 800ha of farmland, has been snapped up by real estate and farming investment firm Albanwise. — PA
