Cadbury graduation

- STAFF REPORTER

MORE than 200 Cadbury workers will attend a graduation ceremony at the Dunedin Town Hall next month.

Mondelez Dunedin site manager Judith Mair said that the company had been working with industry training organisation Competenz to prepare workers for the impending closure of the factory.

Their skills would be recognised with formal qualifications.

‘‘Over 4500 hours of training has been completed to date, including over 2500 hours helping our people achieve formal qualifications,’’ she said.

The graduation would be held on October 13.

Production would start to reduce in December, when the first group of employees would be laid off.

The factory would close next March. About 300 permanent staff would lose their jobs, as well as seasonal staff.
