The southbound lane of Dunedin’s Southern Motorway was brought to a standstill about 3.30pm yesterday after a crash involving five cars.

Noone was injured as a result but the arterial road was closed following the crash, police said.

A police spokesman said the road was cleared and reopened to both lanes at 4.30pm.

Another accident occurred on an onramp of the southbound lane about 1km north of the first incident.

Noone required medical attention for that matter either.

Inquiries into the cause of the crashes were ongoing.
