Paving Anzac square
The matter of paving Anzac square will be considered by the City Council on Wednesday evening. A clause in the report of the Works Committee’s report contains the following recommendation regarding this matter: ‘‘That the offer from the Railway Department to vest the approaches to the Dunedin Railway Station, known as Anzac square, in the City Council, and to contribute the sum
of £500 towards the cost of reconstructing the area in tar macadam, the council to find the balance of the money required, carry out the work, and thereafter maintain the area at their own expense as a public street for all time, be accepted. The proposal, if agreed to, will enable the department to make a continuous job of the paving in Stuart street right down to the station.
