CTV action still possible
POLICE have not ruled a criminal prosecution stemming from the collapse of Christchurch’s CTV building in the February 22, 2011, earthquake.
A decision on whether to lay charges over the collapse, which resulted in the deaths of 115, was yet to be made.
‘‘The length of time being taken reflects the complexity of the investigation, which we have been very open about in the updates we have provided to date,’’ a police spokeswoman said.
‘‘We are very mindful of the impact this is having on the families. However, we must give very careful consideration to the highly technical nature of the investigation.
The Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission found the building should not have been granted a permit and its design was deficient.
