Capturing the action
The first signs of nextgeneration speed cameras have appeared in Dunedin.
The speed camera pole, and box which would eventually contain the camera, were put up in King Edward St this week.
A police spokeswoman said the camera would be installed in the coming months and testing would begin soon after.
‘‘We will be notifying the media and the public in regards to the date the camera will be installed and this will be done in due course,’’ she said.
It was one of two sites for the cameras in Dunedin. The other is Maclaggan St.
Two other cameras would be installed in the Southern district — one in Wansbeck St, Oamaru, and the other in Otatara Rd, near Invercargill.
