Oamaru District Court

-

TOMSYM Ryfle (26), butcher, of Kakanui, was on December 6 sentenced by Judge Joanna Maze in the Oamaru District Court on two charges, one of unlawful possession of a firearm, namely a sawnoff rifle, and the other charge, one of unlawful possession of ammunition.

The firearm was found stashed under a bed, while the ammunition was discovered stored in a cupboard.

While Judge Maze said that the two being stored separately helped Ryfle’s defence, the fact children lived at the property made for a potentially dangerous situation.

Ryfle was sentenced to 100 hours of community work, and the firearm and ammunition were ordered destroyed.
