A&P show celebrates 75 years

-

CELEBRATING 75 years of serving the community, the Mount Benger A&P show returns to Roxburgh Racecourse on February 23 and 24.

The show has built an enviable reputation for sheer entertainment over those years with exciting competitions, fun events, food and beverage stalls, art and craft stalls and entertainment for the whole family.

All the favourites are back — equestrian show jumping, the childrens’ pet parade, Beaumont Sport Horses, and the spectacular mounted games.

The popular speed shearing event returns for its third year, now at a new time on Saturday night.

Trade sites and stalls are always popular with shoppers, and look out for show day specials.

A fundraising auction for Roxburgh leukaemia survivor Priscilla Kroeze has great prizes including a helicopter flight with Richie McCaw, a wilderness cruise in Doubtful Sound and a 10kg venison pack.

The ringside lounge has been expanded this year, so more can relax and watch the action.

Canine entertainment will include the open bark up, best dressed pooch, and best trick.

The classic car show is back by popular demand, with plenty of objects of desire to admire, and the new Undie 500 race will bring a touch of halfdressed fun to the afternoon.

Homecrafts will be again on display in the pavilion, and the childrens’ art theme this year is ‘my pet’.

To round off a busy day, southern band Road Block will rock the crowd till late with a celebration of 75 years of the show.
