Car rolls near Mt Cook

Timaru: People were flown by rescue helicopter to Timaru Hospital after a car rolled near Mt Cook late yesterday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were alerted at 4.45pm to the crash in Mt Cook Rd at Ben Ohau.

Two rescue helicopters, one from Christchurch and another from Dunedin, were sent, and flew an unknown number of people to Timaru Hospital.

The condition of those flown to hospital was not known last night.
