Christ’s scores late to draw with OBHS

- STAFF REPORTER

OTAGO Boys’ High School drew 2424 in its interschool match against Christ’s College at a drenched Littlebourne yesterday.

The game was played early in the season as Christ’s College has a packed programme this year and the original date for the interschool clash was around the same time as the Christchurch school had its traditional quad tournament.

The weather made it a game of limited action and the ball did not get past one pass in most phases.

Otago Boys’ led 125 at halftime and looked to have the game sewn up before Christ’s scored in the final play of the game.

It knocked over the conversion from about 15m from the sideline to draw the game.

Tevita Asi impressed in the backs for Otago Boys’ while openside flanker Jesse Va’afusuaga was combative.

Otago Boys’ High School will make its debut in the Otago premier school competition this Saturday when it will play South Otago High School at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

King’s High School will take on John McGlashan College — a rematch of last year’s final — also at the stadium.

Meanwhile, the King’s High School development side lost the final game of its South African tour over the weekend.

The side lost 2617 to South Africa College Schools in Cape Town.

King’s was pressing on the tryline at the end but lost the ball and the opposition ran the length of the field to score to clinch the game.

Tries to King’s were scored by Trevor Elisara, Jaxon Elisara and Nathan Hastie, who also added a conversion.
