RTANZ keeps economy pumping
TRUCKS keep the lifeblood of New Zealand’s economy flowing, ensuring supplies reach their destination on time.
The Road Transport Association of New Zealand (RTANZ) has a proud history supporting the country’s roadtransport industry. It traces its origins back to the Master Carriers Association and the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance, both established around 1924.
RTANZ represents road freight operators of all types and sizes, from courier companies and owner drivers, to large fleet operators, and the companies that work alongside the freight transport industry. Members run just over 11,000 trucks throughout New Zealand.
‘‘We’re committed to providing value to members through support services, including education and driver development, driver competitions, financial benefits, and networking opportunities,’’ chief executive Dennis Robertson says. ‘‘Our executives work together with other agencies on issues that matter to members, from roading to health and safety, compliance, and the latest legislation.’’
Area executives liaise with agencies and territorial authorities to ensure road transport operators’ interests are taken into account; for example, when roads and infrastructure are being planned. The benefits are better and safer roads for all roadusers.
RTANZ is the main funder of the Road Transport Forum (RTF). The association is working on consolidating and streamlining its structure to provide greater efficiency and value for members.
