Let’s have a full house for the rugby test

-

THIS Saturday night I will be attending the test match between the All Blacks and France under the roof in Dunedin’s stadium and am thoroughly looking forward to it.

What disappoints me is, after soldout stadiums in Auckland and Wellington for the first two tests, there are 4000 seats unsold for Dunedin.

Perhaps, because we have already won the series, that is the reason for the soldout sign not going up. But there is one very good reason why it should be a full house on Saturday — this is probably the last time we will see Ben Smith in an All Black jersey in front of his home crowd and he certainly does not deserve to play to his home town stadium that is only threequarters full.

To me and many others, Smith is arguably the best All Black to come out of Otago for many, many years. Should this be his last time in an All Black jersey in his local stadium, he can be assured he has given a great deal of pleasure to all who have watched him over the years.

He is a great ambassador for the sport, on and off the field, and in professional sport there are very few like him with his humble nature.

Come on Dunedin! Ben deserves a full house on Saturday.

I GUESS you watched the All Blacks v France game on Saturday night? Here are my thoughts.

Great jump Beauden — sorry about the crash landing, trust you are OK.

With (no) intent, Benjamin Fall should never have got a red card.

France played very well with 14 men and were very unlucky at times. A great display of courage and a great try by them on fulltime, fully deserved.

Bring on the third test in Dunedin and, to our mighty All Blacks, pull up your socks guys, otherwise the result will be reversed. Gary Stewart
