Truck fire near petrol station extinguished

OMARAMA: The Omarama Volunteer Fire Brigade extinguished a fire in a truck near the Omarama petrol station about 1.30pm yesterday.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the fire in the rear brakes of the truck in Chain Hills Highway (State Highway 83) posed ‘‘no threat’’ to the buildings or the petrol pumps.

The fire crew had extinguished the fire ‘‘with no problems at all,’’ he said.
