Where can I exercise my dog?

ALL dogs need and love daily exercise, but where can dogs just be dogs? There are several areas throughout Otago created specifical­ly as dogexercis­e areas or where they are allowed off their leash. Some of these include:

In Dunedin, dog parks are located at: Rotary Park — Highcliff Rd, Waverley; Forrester Park — Norwood St, Normanby; Cemetery Rd — East Taieri (includes a small dogpark); Shand Park — Green Island (includes a small dogpark); Wakari Rd — Wakari; Kew Park — Forbury

There are dozens of other dogexercis­e areas in the Greater Dunedin area, a comprehens­ive list is available on the council’s website.

Alexandra: The Alexandra Pines, State Highway 8; The Linger and Die, between Rivers St and the Manuheriki­a River; Town Belt between State Highway 85 and the Manuheriki­a River.

Clyde: Sunderland Street Road Reserve; true left bank of the Clutha River between Clyde Bridge and Dunstan Hospital; vacant land at northern end of Clyde Golf Course and Dunstan Hospital.

Cromwell: Victoria Park Reserve, Alpha St; plantation area adjacent to transfer station, Bannockbur­n Rd; plantation area, between Pearson Rd and Bannockbur­n Rd.

Naseby: vacant land, Channel Rd forest block, off Lomond St and Killarney St.

Ranfurly: vacant land, corner Alexander St and Charlemont St.

Roxburgh: vacant land, Cheviot St, below the bridge.

Pisa Moorings: Dustin Park, Pisa Moorings, south of the playground.
