Streetwise training at Humanimals

WHAT IS STREETWISE?

Streetwise training is based on behaviour modification using positive reinforcement, coupled with lowstress techniques.

Humanimals has found that not all standard techniques work with all dogs; they aim to find a way that your dog can understand, so that it can learn the command.

Streetwise was started over 28 years ago. It has been helping many human/canine partnerships with basic obedience and retraining behaviours. For example, aversion to simple procedures, like clipping nails; barking when left alone; and fearful aggressive behaviour to new perceived threatening situations.

HOW DOES STREETWISE WORK?

Streetwise teaches a basic behaviour understanding, to allow you to recognise how your dog might respond to different situations, which can in turn lower adverse responses.

Streetwise training uses achievable steps in small classes (one on one if required), and enables continual socialisation for dogs from 16 weeks of age. You can teach an old dog new tricks and all breeds of dogs can be taught, some breeds just pick it up more quickly.

WHY SHOULD YOU TRAIN YOUR DOG?

Training your dog creates a companion that you can enjoy being out and about with.

It is important to remember that training is something that needs to be continued throughout your dog’s life, so occasionally dropping in for a class is worthwhile, to check your training techniques are up to date.

Please feel free to ring Humanimals to book in to Streetwise and start a new relationship with your companion: (03) 4562345
